Top Gaming Chairs Under $150 • Reviews

Now that you’ve had a chance to check out the top models in this price range, I’m sure you have a better idea of which chair is your future throne. One key missing feature that’s hard to find in this category compared to gaming chairs under $200 is quality 4D armrests. You might be able to find them for under $150, but there’s a good chance you’ll have to deal with some wobbling. Personally, in this category, I prefer to stick with height-adjustable (2D) or non-adjustable armrests to avoid any wobbling issues.

The second feature that’s tough to find is breathable fabric rather than PU leather. PU leather is good, but affordable DXRacer and AKRacing chairs offer breathable fabrics that won’t flake or cause you to sweat on hot days. Having said that, we are in the budget realm here, and the chairs in my Top 5 offer great value for the money. Once you consider those two minor drawbacks, you’ll find that the chairs in this guide give you the most bang for your buck. There’s really no reason to spend big money on a gaming chair unless you’re a hardcore or professional gamer.

Below, I share the reviews of each of the 5 chairs along with the promised pros & cons of owning them. Once you take a closer look at what each chair has to offer, you’ll know without a doubt which chair is the one.

GTRACING Ergonomic Gaming Chair (GT099)

It’s no secret that GTRACING chairs are budget versions of DXRacer and AKRacing chairs, which is actually a good thing since those are two of the leading brands. The GT099 ranges in price depending on which color you choose, and at the time of this writing, the red version offers excellent value for the money. Fans of red unite, this is a solid deal, my friends.

The feature I like most about this chair is its sleek appearance. It’s obvious that GTRACING chose quality materials to make this chair, and the company knows how to manufacture a solid chair for a super price. The chair itself is fully adjustable with a max recline angle of 170º, height-adjustable armrests, and an adjustable seat height up to a max overall chair height of 52″. Tall users will like to see that this chair is one of the tallest available for under $150.

The entire design is ergonomic from the sturdy internal metal frame to the neck & lumbar support. I’m a fan of the load capacity of 300lbs in this price range as well. This chair is undoubtedly built like a tank for the money. The final highlight is a 1-year warranty from a trustworthy company. That’s one of the best you’ll find in this range.

These are the pros & cons I found reported by owners in the GTRACING GT099 reviews:

Pros
  • Approved to remain comfortable during extended gaming sessions
  • Excellent and reliable customer service
  • The max recline angle is nearly flat and super comfy
  • Very sturdy construction
  • Easy assembly and the package comes with spare parts
  • Good for big & tall gamers
  • The adjustments are smooth, and it’s easy to find your preferred settings
  • The chair itself looks awesome, especially the colors
Cons
  • You may prefer a chair with more cushioning
  • The max height of the armrests may not be high enough for you
  • Potentially too narrow for people with wide hips

Hbada Ergonomic Gaming Chair

I’ll tell you right now that I love this chair. If I had to choose just one chair in my Top 5, this is the one. You’ve probably never heard of Hbada or seen the name briefly while browsing online. This under-the-radar chair is straight-up awesome value for the money. It’s well-built with the best materials you’ll find in this category, and the closest you’ll get to owning a premium gaming chair without forking out a bundle of cash. PC gamers love this chair.

As far as features, this chair offers mostly the same features as the GT099, and they’re both racing-style chairs. One key difference to be aware of when choosing between the two is the lower max recline angle offered by the Hbada chair of 155º compared to 170º in the GTRACING chair. Like the GT099, the Hbada chair features height-adjustable armrests, head & lumbar cushions, and PU leather (though you may find this chair breathes better).

One feature I like a lot is the 2.75″ thick padded seat that provides more cushion than other chairs in the price range. The seat dimensions of 21.6″ x 20.8″ are also nice to see for added comfort. Lastly, the 31.5″ backrest is big enough to comfortably seat users up to 6′, and the load capacity of 300lbs means this chair is a beast.

These are the pros and cons I found scattered around in the reviews:

Pros
  • Offers a true bucket racing seat feel
  • Excellent back support for long hours of gaming
  • You’ll most likely love the extra cushioning
  • Takes under 30 minutes to assemble
  • Comparable to chairs that cost double the price
  • Great for use as a hybrid gaming/desk chair
  • PC gamers are quite happy with it
  • The recline feature is the real deal for comfort
Cons
  • The head pillow could be higher for better neck support
  • Max seat height of 18″ might be too low for tall desks
  • Big & tall gamers may feel cramped

KILLABEE Racing-Style Gaming Chair (9015)

KILLABEE is easily one of my favorite budget gaming chair brands, and the company delivers true quality at an affordable price. What I like about KILLABEE is its dedication to manufacturing a quality chair. This isn’t a company that just randomly popped up to sell a gaming chair. KILLABEE manufactures a wide range of models, and the 9015 is my top selection in the under-$150 range. If you’re a big & tall gamer, KILLABEE makes some good heavy-duty gaming chairs as well that support up to 440lbs.

One feature I like in the 9015 model is the open space in the back of the chair that allows it to breathe better than a solid-back chair. I’m also a fan of the armrests. They’re not 2D or 4D, but they do adjust as you recline in the seat, they’re padded, and they’re less likely to wobble than cheap 2D or 4D armrests. Another feature you may not have noticed at first glance is a retractable footrest. Combining the power of the 175º recline angle with the footrest is going to make break time a lot better.

The seat dimensions are about the same as the Hbada chair at 21.3″ x 20.1″, though, the load capacity is lower at 250lbs. One final highlight I want to point out is that the lumbar cushion is actually a vibrating massage cushion. This feature really comes in handy when you decide to recline with the footrest. Of the chairs in this guide, the KILLABEE 9015 offers the most features for the money, and depending on how much you value them, this could very well be the chair for you.

Here are the pros and cons I found in the reviews:

Pros
  • Prevents stooping and hunching like a champ
  • The combination of the max recline, footrest, and vibrating massage cushion is incredibly relaxing
  • Approved for long-lasting comfort during 6+hour gaming sessions
  • Takes just 15 minutes to assemble
  • Sturdy and well-built
  • Comfortable enought to fall asleep
  • Stays cooler than other PU leather chairs
  • Really cool appearance, expect compliments from friends
Cons
  • The seat cushion may not be thick enough for you
  • It can tip over when fully reclined
  • The footrest may not be as sturdy as you’d like

X Rocker Gaming Chair with Pedestal (SE 2.1)

If you’re not a fan of racing-style gaming chairs, an X Rocker gaming chair with a pedestal is an excellent alternative. One of the features that set X Rocker chairs apart is the internal speakers. The 5127401 model features 2 internal speakers, a 4″ subwoofer, and Audio Force Modulation (AMF) tech for a more intense gaming experience. However, as awesome as that all is, I wish the chair offered Bluetooth. Instead, it uses a wireless transmitter. Also, keep in mind that it’s not directly compatible with the latest PlayStation and Xbox systems that feature HDMI connections.

Despite those drawbacks, this is still an awesome chair, and it’s a serious bargain. The ergonomic design of the chair makes it super comfortable to lean back in while gaming. I also like how the pedestal base doesn’t allow the chair to shift around while I’m gaming. The chair even folds down when not in use to save space or keep your pets off of it.

Finally, one drawback to be aware of with all X Rocker gaming chairs is the short 90-day warranty. It somewhat baffles me that the company doesn’t offer a longer warranty since its chairs are built to last, and the company specializes in manufacturing gaming chairs. Hopefully, this changes soon.

These are the pros & cons I found reported by current owners in the X Rocker 5127401 reviews:

Pros
  • Approved by users over 6′ and 200lbs for comfort
  • The pedestal base is rock-solid
  • The rocking motion is soothing
  • Definitely one of the most comfortable gaming chairs under $150
  • The speakers are good quality for the money
  • Helps to eliminate back soreness due to marathon gaming sessions
  • An immersive experience, feels like you’re really there
  • Sturdy aluminum armrests
Cons
  • It might be too low to the ground for you (15″ from the ground)
  • Heavy to move from room to room
  • No option to recline
  • No Bluetooth

Devoko Ergonomic Gaming Chair Racing (DV17RRD)

I had a tough choice to make between Devoko and Homall gaming chairs, and overall, I like Devoko as the #1 budget option under $150 more. At the time of this writing, the Devoko DV17RRD costs just a hair over $100. What’s amazing about the Devoko chair is that it offers just about every feature and similar quality materials as the other chairs in this guide for a budget price.

If you compare it to the KILLABEE 9015, it is missing the retractable footrest. Also, the armrests are not adjustable with this chair, but as I mentioned earlier, it’s usually better to go with non-adjustable armrests with budget chairs to avoid wobbling.

The feature I’m liking a lot is the lay-flat 180º max recline angle. On top of that, it comes with neck and lumbar cushions to make lying back and gaming that much more comfortable. Another nice feature to see at this price point is the smooth-rolling PU mute casters. All in all, this is an awesome budget gaming chair with tons of positive reviews to back up its quality for the price. It even comes with a 6-month warranty on parts.

These are the pros & cons I discovered in the Devoko reviews:

Pros
  • Reliable seller who honors the warranty
  • Includes all tools for easy assembly
  • Awesome-looking in person
  • Sturdy construction
  • High-quality materials for the money
  • Surprisingly comfortable feel for a chair in this price range
  • Good lumbar support
  • Approved by users over 6’2″
Cons
  • Instructions could be clearer
  • Lumbar cushion may slide around
  • Not as much padding as more expensive chairs
  • The leg base could be wider to avoid any tipping

Bottom Line

Now you know everything you need to know to choose the best gaming chair under $150. Whether you prefer a traditional racing-style gaming chair or a chair with a pedestal base, there are options in this guide for you. You may even like the retractable footrest offered by the KILLABEE for chilling hard after long hours of gaming.

Be sure to keep in mind that quality 4D armrests are tough to find at this price point, and most of the time, it’s best to stick with armrests that are less prone to wobble or break. It’s also important to consider any durability issues with chairs in this category because almost all of them are made of PU leather. Of the chairs I tested, the 5 in this guide are the most likely to stand the test of time and give you the most value for the money.
